At one of my last shifts at a hotel, a drunk businessman was rambling. I met him multiple times sober, he’s a cool dude. However the conversation veered towards climate change. He said, slurred, how nature is too powerful for us to have an impact on.
I want to juxtapose his existence with a section of this article.
I can say with confidence why he doesn’t believe we can impact something as powerful as nature. The reason is he doesn’t experience the change.
Standing in a suit & tie in the American Midwest, he is not impacted by floods in Africa, droughts in South Asia, nor does he live near a coral reef.
So frankly, I’m not surprised he doesn’t believe it.
However, I am upset.
