Perspectence was inspired by my 2016 trip to Europe where I was more interested in the museums’ marble floors than the displays on their walls.
Unfortunately I couldn’t carry the marble even if they’d let me have it. So instead, I photographed it.
My first “pattern design” was made as the album cover for Juice Jordan & Scottie Trippen, still visible here. From there I started photographing patterns incessantly. I am particularly inspired by flora and fauna.
Yet what inspires me most is unity.
A core problem I see is separation; separation from the world around us, from the people around us, and most detrimentally, separation from ourselves.
Perspectence is how I bring attention to unity.
By unifying subjects on canvas, I ask "Were these ever really separate to begin with?"
I hope Perspectence reminds you that it’s all connected.
